According to data by the state planning organisation there are 12,000 unemployed people in the TRNC, while 42,000 foreign workers are employed, Minister of Labour and Social Security has said. He added that this issue needs investigating.
Addressing a workshop on “Creating an employment strategy in North Cyprus”, which was organised by the EU coordination office and the World Bank and was held in the North yesterday, Saner stressed that one of the biggest problems is how to plan the employment strategies, adding that his ministry gives importance to the creation of employment strategies which will meet the needs of the labour market.
Specialists of the World Bank such as Michele Davide Zini, representatives of the EU Coordination Centre, officials from the Ministry of Labour and Social Security and the Ministry of National Education and Culture, as well as representatives of different civil social organisations participated in the workshop.
