New Gas Turbines Boost TRNC Power Capacity

The Cyprus Turkish Electricity Authority (Kib-Tek) has announced the arrival of two 25 MegaWatt gas turbines from Turkey at the Teknecik Power Plant, BRTK reports.

In their statement, the authority mentioned that preparations are underway to put the turbines, totalling 50 MegaWatts into operation, within approximately 10 days.

The statement from the institution reads:

To address the rising energy demand in our country, two 25 MegaWatt gas turbines have been delivered to Teknecik Power Plant from Turkey. Preparations and necessary work are ongoing to commission the turbines, with a combined capacity of 50 MegaWatts, within about 10 days. Once operational, these gas turbines will significantly enhance our electricity production capacity.

On behalf of the people of the TRNC, we extend our gratitude to Prime Minister Ünal Üstel, the authorities of the Republic of Turkey, and everyone involved in securing our energy supply and facilitating the swift integration of the gas turbines into the system. We hope this development will be beneficial for our country”.
