New reservoirs planned for Guzelyurt area

The Minister for Environment and Natural Resource, Hamit Bakirci has announced that reservoirs are to be built in the Guzelyurt region and that the first reservoir created will be in the Yedidalga area (pictured above).

Bakirci met with a delegation from the Investigation, Planning and Allocation Department that operates within Turkey’s General Directorate of State Hydraulic Works that is currently carrying out technical surveys with the TRNC’s Water Works Department.

During the visit Bakirci said that close to 7.5 million cubic meters of water is flowing into the sea around Guzelyurt and that for some time now they have been working on a reservoir project and finally they will be implementing this project. He also said that during the works none of the areas in question will be left submerged under water as the reservoirs will be made using an underground retention system.
