TRNC citizens living abroad will be able to apply for and receive their identity cards through TRNC Representation Offices in different locations across the world, the Minister of Interior Kutlu Evren has announced.
Evren said that work to enable the TRNC’s Embassy in Ankara and consulate in Istanbul to ID applications was near completion.
In a written statement, the Interior Minister also announced that similar preparations had been launched at the TRNC’s representation offices in London and Abu Dhabi as well as the consulate in Mersin.
Evren also stressed that areas where problems or shortfalls were being experienced in issuing e-IDs had also been identified.
He stated that mobile application devices had been put into service so as to enable elderly or handicapped citizens who couldn’t make it to the Ministry to apply.
The TRNC Interior Minister also said that 27 thousand e-IDs have been issued by the register office since the new practice was introduced.
