Next presidents’ meeting will address unresolved core issues

President Mustafa Akinci spoke to the press yesterday following his meeting with President Nicos Anastasiades.

He said that both sides had reviewed the work presented by the negotiators and successfully concluded a baseline assessment.

Akinci said that now they had a document showing what both sides were able to agree on and those issues which could not be agreed on.

Substantive negotiations on unresolved core issues would be discuss on 29th June, the president said.

Akinci went on to say that their aim was comprehensive peace and the Turkish Cypriot side no longer had the patience for time wasting. He added that as well as the process, they would continue to work on more confidence building measures. He made reference to the building of the gender equality team.

Responding to press questions, Akinci noted that the work on linking the electricity and GSM services inter-communally was on-going.
