Nicosia Mayor meets with two British MPs

The Mayor of Nicosia, Kadri Fellahoglu met with Nick de Bois – Conservative MP for Enfield North and Andy Love – Labour MP for Edmonton. The British MPs were accompanied by Alessandra Viezzer, head of the EU programme support team and Mary Southcott, co-ordinator of the UK group, Friends of Cyprus*.

Fellahoglu briefed the British politicians on relations with the Nicosia Municipality and their inter-communal projects. Love and de Bois, who wanted information regarding the joint Turkish and Greek Cypriot waste water treatment project in Haspolat, visited the facility.


*Friends of Cyprus was founded in London in 1974. Its first Chairman was Lord Caradon (Hugh Foot, the last British Governor of Cyprus). Its current Chairman is Nicholas Bethell MEP.The three MP Vice-Chairmen are Robin Corbett (Labour), Roger Gale (Conservative) and Simon Hughes (Liberal Democrat). The members of the Committee are mostly British parliamentarians in the Houses of Parliament and the European Parliament.
