Night club hostess deported for having AIDS

Following her HIV test and being found positive, a woman called Katherina who worked as a nightclub hostess in Nicosia, was deported immediately upon the diagnosis.

Katherina, a Russian national, had undergone a health test before she entered the country and had only been in the TRNC for a short while.

Hostesses are put through a health check every week at the Nicosia state hospital and it was during this check that she was found to be HIV positive.

Initial attempts to keep this diagnosis and the deportation quiet have failed. The Ministry of Health has now confirmed the facts and said that more detailed information would be released later today.

Although Katherina was only in the TRNC for a short while, it is claimed that a number of men are now anxious to be tested for HIV.
