Nine Syrian Refugees Arrested at Famagusta Port


Nine Syrian refugees were discovered at Famagusta Port after the lorry they were stowed away in left the ship. The ferry had arrived at the port from Mersin, Turkey.

They were spotted when they got off the lorry after the ferry docked at Famagusta port.

TRNC police arrested the men and the driver of the vehicle. It emerged that the Syrians had illegally entered the country in the hope of crossing the border to the south.

All nine of the Syrians were deported back to Turkey.
