No reversal on decision to give land to Eroglu’s daughter

Despite the furore about the government’s controversial decision to give land to former TRNC President Derviş Eroglu’s daughter, nothing has been done to reverse it.

The former president’s daughter, Resmiye Canaltay, was granted some vacant plots of land near the former KTHY building in Lefkoşa for 40 years, in order to construct a 5-star hotel. This is despite the fact that Mrs Canaltay’s construction company reportedly has not shown any profit for the past three years.

Although the government said that it would cancel the move, reportedly, Eroglu heard from Prime Minister Huseyin Ozgurgun that he was not in favour of reversing the decision. It is known that the coalition has had problems within itself over the allocation of land.
