North increases security measures after bomb warnings

Terror attacks in Turkey and elsewhere in the world have created concerns in North Cyprus as well.

According to Turkish Cypriot daily Haberal Kibrisli, despite the fact that the TRNC police stated that warnings by the Turkish intelligence agency (MIT) of potential acts of terrorism in the North are unfounded, security measures have been stepped up.

On Wednesday evening, fully-equipped riot police begin patrolling in front of the Turkish Embassy in Nicosia, the National Assembly building and Dereboyu Avenue, the busiest street in North Nicosia.
