Nurses and Midwives Association threaten indefinite strikes

Oguz Kose, Head of the Nurses and Midwives Association, says their protests over the past 23 days have been to highlight the lack of health personnel.  He now says that his members will continue their protests and this may include an indefinite strike.

Mr Kose said that he had requested a meeting with the Prime Minister many times but had only now managed to obtain one for noon tomorrow.

There have been six two-hour strikes so far and there are currently around 200 unfilled vacancies. Because of these shortages, many hospitals are unable to provide a proper service.
