Open-ended negotiations are not healthy, recently appointed Foreign Minister Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu has said.
The FM was speaking when he received the Undersecretary for Turkish Foreign Affairs Feridun Sinirlioğlu (on left), who was accompanied by Turkish Ambassador to North Nicosia Derya Kanay and officials.
Ertuğruloğlu said that it was natural for the TRNC to consult with motherland Turkey to defend the national cause in the negotiations. He added that the Cyprus negotiations have been ongoing for about 50 years. The Turkish Cypriots do not deserve to be continuously exposed to such conditions, he noted. The FM also said that he believes that holding open-ended negotiations is not a healthy approach.
Turkish Foreign Affairs undersecretary Sinirlioğlu said that it is their common responsibility to assess the current stage of the negotiations. Indicating that he had paid a visit to the TRNC to discuss the negotiations process and also to congratulate the new government, Sinirlioğlu expressed his pleasure at being in the TRNC.
