North Nicosia Mayor Mehmet Harmanci, has met with a number of Turkish Cypriot trade unions, members of the Trade Union Platform, on the issue of opening crossing points at the Paphos and Famagusta Gates in Nicosia, after an agreement reached on this issue between himself and Constantinos Yiorkadjis, Mayor of South Nicosia.
During the meeting, Harmanci said that the opening of the crossing point at Famagusta Gate to vehicles would ease the waiting times for people using the Metehan crossing point. The opening of Paphos Gate to pedestrian crossings will allow the Lokmaci border some respite from numbers of tourists using that crossing, he noted.
