Ozersay forms new political party

Former Cyprus negotiator Kudret Ozersay has completed preparations for the formation of a new political party. Today, along with founding members of the new party, he hands in an application form to register his new party with the Ministery for the Interior and Labour.

“The People’s Party (Halkin-Partesi HP) was formed after several months of hard work and exchanging views, with a variety of visits with different circles”, Ozersay told a press conference held at the Turkish Cypriot Chamber of Commerce.

There was a need for a fundamental change in party politics and a new political understanding, he said.

The People’s Party, he said, would support a solution to the Cyprus problem which was acceptable to both communities.

“A balanced solution which protects the rights and interests of the two peoples on the island and where there are no losers, is what the People’s Party supports”, the statement said.
