Kudret Ozersay, leader of the People’s Party (HP), says that efforts to establish a new coalition government will be hopeless.
The National United Party (UBP) mandated to form a new coalition, is currently holding discussions with the Democratic Party (DP) and independent MPs.
However, Ozersay predicts that “Early elections will take place before the end of the year”.
A potential coalition government will not represent the peoples’ will and interests with regard to the economic protocol, which still remains unsigned between the TRNC and Turkey, he said.
Ozersay said that his party favours an early election. He says that he has information that MPs are already bargaining on who should stand as candidates in an early election.
