Former Turkish Cypriot negotiator Kudret Ozersay has given his full support to the latest statements made by President Mustafa Akinci on the issues of clear majority in the proposed bi-zonal, bi-communal federal state of Cyprus and on EU primary law.
Ozersay, in an interview with Turkish private channel NTV, said that Akinci is negotiating on the basis of UN parameters and the issue of bi-zonality remains within this framework. Noting that while he was speaking about a clear majority in bi-zonality, he did not mean a founding state consisting of only Turkish Cypriots in the 21st century. Ozersay argued that whatever the arrangement, the Turkish Cypriots keeping the clear majority both in population and in immovable property is necessary. He added: “Besides, this is the Turkish Cypriot side’s demand and it is an established UN parameter”.
