Passengers on board a Pegasus Airline jet panicked when the Boeing 737-800 skidded off the runway after landing at Trabzon Airport in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The plane was left dangling precariously over a cliff-edge, its wheels stuck in the frozen mud.
According to an Anadolu news agency report, all 162 passengers and crew on board were evacuated and are safe, Trabzon Governor Yücel Yavuz said.
The Pegasus aircraft left Ankara late on Saturday evening. Since the incident the airport was close until 8am local time.
Flights have now resumed but authorities have not yet discovered the cause of the skid.
