An exhibition from the archives of the late founding President of the TRNC Rauf R. Denktaş, has opened at the Muratpaşa Municipality Exhibition Hall in Antalya.
The event, prepared by Mine Çeliker and Cem Kar, consists of photographs selected from the private archive of thousands of photographs of the late President Rauf Denktaş and his own words about these photographs.
Rauf Denktaş was a keen amateur photographer and his photographs display childhood, family, years of struggle and promises that shed light on the history of Cyprus.
The opening ceremony of the exhibition was attended by the Vice President of the TRNC Assembly, Zorlu Töre, Mayor of Muratpaşa Ümit Uysal, the Turkish Consul General in Antalya Mustafa Kemal Beyazbayram and the TRNC Antalya Tourism Representative Nazmi Pınar, the exhibition organisers Mine Çeliker and Cem Kar, representatives of non-governmental organisations and a large number of citizens.
The exhibition commemorates the 7th year of his death. Former President Rauf Denktaş died in North Cyprus on 13 January 2012, aged 88.
