Pipeline from Turkey to be delayed

The Agriculture and Natural Resources Minister, Sami Dayioglu held a press conference during his visit to Gecitkoy dam earlier today.

Although the original deadline for the pipeline completion was due in March 2014, Mr Sami said that this would now be delayed to November 2014.

The reason for the delay is that unseasonable bad weather has resulted in choppy seas and has not allowed for pipeline laying. The pipeline laying has now been scheduled for March 2014.

Mr Dayioglu said that the water from Turkey would initially go direct to Nicosia. Only after that would it be distributed from Lefke to Karpaz.
