An inauguration ceremony was held in Kyrenia for the newly-built Lord’s Palace Hotel.
The ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Huseyin Ozgurgun, Minister for Tourism and Environment Fikri Ataoglu, a number of MPs and businessmen.
The hotel belongs to the Aydogan group and is its first investment in the tourism sector. Unal Aydogan, chairman of the group’s administrative board, in his opening speech, thanked the Creditwest bank officials for financing the hotel’s construction. He added that the group considered the use of local products very important. He further said that by the end of 2017 the foundations of another new hotel will be laid.
Tourism minister Ataoglu, on his part, said that tourism is one of the TRNC’s leading sectors and added that everyone, particularly local investors who invest in the sector, should be promoted.
PM Ozgurgun, also addressing the event, said that local investments were proof that the TRNC people were establishing roots on their land.
The five star hotel has 252 bedrooms, a rooftop swimming pool, restaurants and a casino.
