A police search at a man’s home in Famagusta revealed a suitcase containing nine Greek Orthodox icons. Included in the haul were eight pots of various sizes, a broken bowl and a wooden four-piece boards.
Şaban Beyaz (57) was arrested and ordered to be detained while police make enquiries. The artefacts are thought to be very valuable meanwhile, the value of the pieces is being assessed.
