The Cyprus Turkish Public Officials Union (KTAMS) calculated that the poverty line for a family of four in July was 26,191 TL, Kibris Postasi reports.
KTAMS made the following statement:
“Based on a report prepared using the nutritional requirements for a healthy diet for a family of four from the Inpatient Treatment Institutions Department of the TRNC Ministry of Health and the average prices of these items provided by the Statistical Institute, we calculated that the hunger threshold for a family of four as of July 31, 2024, is 26,191 TL.
“Our study determined that the necessary daily food expenditure for a healthy diet is 224.37 TL for an adult woman (6,731.11 TL per month), 234.45 TL for an adult man (7,033.50 TL per month), 248.37 TL for a child aged 15-19 (7,451.10 TL per month), and 165.83 TL for a child aged 4-6 (4,974.90 TL per month)“.
