President Akinci met with Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu yesterday on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York.
The meeting, which took place at the Plaza Hotel, lasted around 45 minutes. Afterwards, Akinci told the press that they had talked about the Cyprus negotiations and Davutoglu had reiterated Turkey’s support for a settlement.
Also present at the meeting were negotiator Ozdil Nami, spokesman Baris Burcu, Foreign Ministry under-secretary Erhan Ercin and the NY representative Mehmet Dana.
Akinci also met with the Swedish Foreign Minister Margot Wallstrom yesterday; he has a scheduled meeting with the US Secretary of State John Kerry later on today.
