The Greek Cypriot government, is in panic because there have been no applications made in the 3rd round of licensing for offshore exploration in blocs 6, 8 and 10 in the South’s EEZ, Kibris Postasi, citing Greek Cypriot diplomatic sources, reports. The 3rd round of tenders began last March.
The deadline is on 22nd July and reports say that Greek Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades has stepped in personally, holding separate meetings with delegations from energy companies Delek and ENI on Tuesday and will meet with TOTAL on Wednesday.
However, it is not yet clear whether or not these companies will take part in this current round of licensing.
