President Eroglu is making a one day working visit to Ankara today at the invitation of the Turkish government.
Turkish Cypriot daily ‘Havadis’ reports that Eroglu will be meeting with Prime Minister Erdogan along with President Gul and Speaker of the National Assembly, Cemil Cicek.
The paper comments that the meeting is somewhat remarkable since relations between the TRNC president and Ankara have been under a cloud for some time.
‘Havadis’ noted that the Turkish Deputy Prime Minister, Besir Atalay had visited the TRNC twice, without meeting Eroglu.
Relations between the two countries have allegedly deteriorated because of Turkey’s attempts to influence the formation of the coalition government after the elections on 28th July, 2013.
