President of Galatasaray FC wants to invest in North Cyprus


President of Galatasaray FC Dursun Ozbek, who is currently carrying out contacts in the TRNC, met with the Prime Minister Huseyin Ozgurgun.

Ozbek, who also visited the chairman of the Turkish Cypriot Football Federation (KTFF) Hasan Sertoglu, proposed cooperation with the federation in order to engage and attract sport tourism in Bafra. During the meeting, they discussed how they can relocate the teams, which do not like attending training camps in Antalya after events taking place in Turkey, to North Cyprus.

Ozbek also met with the chairman of the Turkish Cypriot Sportswriters Association Celen Oben.

According to Turkish daily Milliyet’s TRNC correspondent Sefa Karahasn, Ozbek asked PM Ozgurgun for 60 acre of land in Kyrenia in order to build a five star hotel, sport facilities and three sport courts.

Speaking exclusively to Milliyet, Ozbek also said that they want to establish a sport academy in North Cyprus and to create a tourism region where youth will be trained.

Regarding the sports embargo imposed on the TRNC, Ozbek said: “I don’t want to enter in political issues”.
