Heavy thunderstorms caused flooding and damage in many parts of Nicosia yesterday.
Tropical-style rains flooded the Industrial Zone, Gocmenkoy, Ortakoy, Dereboyu and Doctoroglu areas.
Floods and overflowing sewers meant that a number of roads were closed by the police. Many cars were stranded and traffic jams were frequent.
A number of houses were flooded, particularly in the Metropol area with sewage also bursting out of manholes.
