Rare St Hilarion cabbage protected

A wild cabbage growing at St Hilarion castle and in nearby fields is thought to be unique to that area.

However many visitors have nipped off flowers from the plant. It was thought that the plant had died but new shoots have been observed recently. Castle staff have promptly covered the shoots in thorny and prickly branches in order to deter any casual flower pickers.
