The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has cancelled the imminent Sundance Reggae Festival.
The festival had been scheduled for July 31st on the beach at Kaplica.
However the EPA maintains that no permission had been requested or given and that the festival does not conform to EPA guidelines.
In fact the EPA says that permission was granted last year, subject to conditions but that the organisers did not meet those conditions either.
Kaplica beach lies within the Special Environment Protection Area and is a nesting spot for turtles.
Festival organisers have been heavily promoting the event and have had a substantial number of internet ticket sales.
The EPA has written to the organisers to formally request that they cancel this project. In addition they say that if any construction work starts in relation to the festival, then legal action will be taken.
