Regulators will meet to discuss future of energy in eastern Med

A meeting has been scheduled for the energy regulators of South Cyprus, Greece, Israel and Italy in Israel on 24th October.

Discussions will cover the future of energy in the eastern Mediterranean, policy, regulation and the creation of an infrastructure for the transportation of energy for the EU market.

The second test well in South Cyprus’ Aphrodite field made by US Nobel Energy revealed an estimated gas reserve of 5 tcf,* somewhat less than was originally predicted. However, further test wells will be sunk late next year by the ENI – COGAS consortium and Total who is contracted to begin explorations in the early part of 2015.

*tcf – trillion cubic feet
