The remains of missing Turkish Cypriots, who were killed in 1974 were found in Tochni village, Larnaca district, Turkish Cypriot daily ‘Kibris’ reports.
According to Murat Sosyal, a Turkish Cypriot member of the Missing Persons’ Committee, the remains of five people were found in the area and the remains of 37 more are expected to be discovered in the village. He also estimated that the excavation would take 5-6 months
Tochni is a village located in the Larnaca District of South Cyprus, about halfway between the cities of Larnaca and Limassol. Prior to 1974, the majority of the village was made up of Turkish Cypriots and it was known as Taskent. In August 1974, 85 inhabitants of the village were massacred by EOKA-B.
