The agreement between the two community leaders to permanently connect the electricity grids of both sides is extremely positive, Minister of Economy and Energy Ozdil Nami has said.
Referring to the use of undersea cables to provide North Cyprus with electricity from Turkey, Nami noted that this project should not be implemented regardless of cost, but it should be introduced only if this brings cheaper electricity to the consumer. The future was renewable energy, he said. And solar energy would save money and prevent dependency on external sources for energy.
