Some roads in Nicosia will be closed to traffic today, for the duration of the public rally organised by the Turkish Cypriot Bicycle Federation this evening, Kibris Postasi reports.
A number of road junctions and roundabouts will be temporarily closed to vehicle traffic.
According to a statement issued by the police, the rally will start in front of the Kyrenia Gate of Nicosia at 19:00, follow the route of Mehmet Akif Street (Dereboyu)-Bedrettin Demirel Street-Atatürk Street-Terminal roundabout and Gazeteci Kemal Aşık Street and end at the Kyrenia Gate.
It was stated that the athletes will be accompanied by a motorised police escort on the route of the bike ride and that all road junctions and roundabouts on the route will be temporarily closed to vehicle traffic by the police.
Police also warned drivers who will use the route in question to drive slowly and carefully for the safety of their own safety, as well as those of the athletes, and to obey traffic signs and signals as long as cycling continues.
