Some roads in Nicosia will be closed tomorrow while rehearsals are held for the ceremony to mark the 50th anniversary of July 20 Peace and Freedom Day, Kibris Postasi reports,
On Sunday from 7am, the route between the junction at the Honda traffic lights, Altınbaş Petrol traffic lights junction, and Gönyeli Roundabout in Nicosia will be closed to traffic.
This route will be closed to traffic flow from 7am until the end of the ceremony rehearsal.
According to an announcement by the General Directorate of Police, drivers are requested not to park their vehicles on the specified roads to avoid obstructing traffic flow and to comply with traffic signs and markers during the ceremony rehearsal.
For drivers coming from within Nicosia and wanting to go to the Organised Industrial Zone, controlled access will be provided from the Altınbaş Petrol traffic lights junction. Other routes that can be used are as follows:
Drivers coming from the direction of Famagusta and wishing to go to Near East University will be able to use the Nicosia Northern Ring Road and Near East Boulevard.
For drivers coming from the direction of Famagusta and wanting to enter Nicosia city centre; they can turn left at the Hamitköy roundabout, and use Mimar Mehmet Vahip Street and Şehit İsmail Beyoğlu Street or turn left at the Honda traffic lights and use Şehit Mustafa Ahmet Ruso Street.
For drivers coming from the direction of Famagusta and wanting head towards Güzelyurt; they can use the Nicosia Northern Ring Road and Gönyeli Roundabout route or use the route via the Citröen traffic lights junction on Nicosia Mehmet Akif Street and the Metehan-Alayköy ring road.
For drivers coming from the direction of Güzelyurt and wanting to go towards Nicosia; they can use the Alayköy-Metehan Ring Road or the route via Gönyeli Roundabout and Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu Street (State Hospital).
For drivers coming from the direction of Kyrenia and wanting to go towards Nicosia; they can use the Boğazköy-Dikmen road, continue through the Nicosia Organised Industrial Zone and use the Altınbaş Petrol traffic lights junction, or for those using the main Kyrenia-Nicosia road, they can use the Gönyeli roundabout and Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu Street (State Hospital) route.
