Second day of Geneva Summit begins with chapter on Governance

President Nicos Anastasiades and President Mustafa Akinci are expected to begin Tuesday’s negotiations with discussions on the chapter of Governance. Also on the agenda are other chapters on the EU and the Economy.

The two leaders will meet at 9am local time at the Palace of the Nations. Their morning’s meeting is expected to last until 1pm and will resume at 6.30pm.

Tonight, the two leaders will take up issues related to the implementation and financing of a solution and tomorrow morning they will negotiate the Territory issue.

Meanwhile, the negotiating teams of the two sides are also continuing with their work.

The negotiating teams are carrying out technical works on the property issue and trying to reach convergences on issues in line with the instructions of the leaders.

It’s been reported that experts from the World Bank are on their way to Geneva to hold contacts on the financing of the property issue.

On Monday evening, Anastasiades told the members of the National Council escorting him to Geneva about the first day of his negotiations with Akinci, when they had they discussed the Property issue, had a brief discussion on Governance and held a brainstorming session on Security and Guarantees.

Both presidents began their negotiations to solve the Cyprus problem in May 2015.
