Serdar Denktash back tracks

During the hurly burly of the election process, Head of the DP party, Serdar Denktash announced that he intended to stand down as leader.

He said that unless his party came first in the elections then he would be resigning and that there would be no deviating from that position.

Unfortunately for him, DP came in third in the elections, so today he held a press statement to backtrack on that promise.

Mr Denktash said that despite his firm assurance that he would resign, he would now be staying on. He said that the public had entrusted his party with a great responsibility and he would not avoid that.
