The Republican Turkish Party (CTP) decided some time ago that it would put forward its own candidate for the 2015 presidential election, Turkish Cypriot daily ‘Detay’ reports.
In an opinion poll conducted by Red Border Research Company to see who were the preferred CTP candidates, Sibel Siber, Mehmet Ali Talat and Ozdil Nami gained the most votes from 1,471 who took part in the poll.
Reporting on the same topic, Turkish Cypriot daily ‘Volkan’ writes that the results of the opinion poll, regarding who should be the CTP candidate was as follows: Sibel Siber 48%, Mehmet Ali Talat 37%, Ozdil Nami 15%.
‘Volkan’ further reports that Siber, Talat and Nami were informed about the opinion poll results which prompted Dr Siber to state recently that she would be willing to be the party’s candidate for the 2015 presidential elections if asked to stand. Ozdil Nami announced that he was not interested in being a candidate.
