Turkish Cypriot fishermen regularly cross over to the South to sell their fish to markets and restaurants.
However ‘Fileleftheros’ newspaper has come up with a novel claim.
It says that the total amount of fresh fish imported in from the North exceeds the fishing capacity of Turkish Cypriot fishermen. It therefore proposes, that some of the fish, in fact, must come from Turkey.
The newspaper says that Turkish fish are strictly not allowed to cross the Green Line – though the paper didn’t go on to explain how one would differentiate.
