Ersin Tatar, MP for the National Unity Party (UBP) has called on President Akinci to “seriously tackle” the Greek Cypriot stance in the Cyprus negotiations.
Tatar who issued a written statement said that Akinci should make a challenge, “as regards the various steps taken by the Greek Cypriots on the issue of natural gas, ignoring both the Turkish Cypriots and the negotiation procedure”.
He went on and added that the third round of licenses had been completed recently and that in 2017, new drilling projects offshore the island will be launched. Akinci should react to these developments, Tatar said.
He also accused the Greek Cypriot side of not making efforts to reach a solution by the end of 2016 and at the same time asking for the withdrawal of Turkish troops from the island.
