South Cyprus granted citizenship to 2,277 persons in 2014 and criticizes the TRNC for not granting TRNC citizenship to more than 3,000 persons who have lived in the TRNC for ten years.
Referring to data by Eurostat, a report by Turkish Cypriot daily Diyalog states that South Cyprus granted citizenship to 2,277 persons in 2014, 27.7% of them were Russians and 15.5% were Greeks, who are foreign workers for foreign investment businesses. However, it says, the TRNC has not granted citizenship to 3,090 persons who have been living in North Cyprus for ten years and to 9,170 persons who have been living here for five years.
