South protests to UN about Turkish military use of airspace

The South Cyprus Foreign Ministry is making a démarche to the United Nations over illegal movements by Turkey on 20th July, during celebrations in the northern Turkish “occupied areas” of the Republic on the 40th anniversary of the Turkish “invasion”, ‘Famagusta Gazette’ reports.

It said that CNA had learned that the FM had made representations to UNFICYP in Nicosia and had instructed Cyprus’ Permanent Representative to the UN in New York to make a démarche as well.

The representations are being made over violations of Cyprus’ airspace and illegal engagement of its national airspace for the arrival of Turkish military aircraft and paratroopers.
