South states conditions for Turkey’s EU application

Greek Foreign Minister, Yoannis Kasulides has been active in Brussels recently, meeting with a number of parties and South Cyprus newspapers have been duly reporting on his progress.

Mr Kasulides has said that his country will not object to Turkey opening some more chapters as part of the process of being worthy of entering the EU. However, in return Turkey must open up the closed area of Maras, under UN control.

The Minister also said that it is impossible for South Cyprus to enter into any discussions around the Cyprus issue as they are too busy sorting out their current economic problems.
