The South Cyprus’ blood bank has run out of supplies resulting in postponement of surgeries. People requiring transfusions are left without help.
South Cyprus daily ‘Politis’ reported that there is no supplies left for any emergencies that may arise over the weekend.
On Friday alone, 50 blood transfusions were postponed at the Cyprus Thalassaemia Centre. People who have been waiting for a week for transfusions now have borderline haemoglobin levels.
The shortage was blamed on the holiday season, with no donors coming in at that time.
