State to check hormone levels in foods

The State Laboratory, a department of the Ministry of Health, yesterday bought and installed a hormone measurement machine.

This kit cost TL 978,000 and can measure the hormone levels in vegetables, fruit and meat. It was purchased in the hope that monitoring hormones levels in foods might help counter the steep rise in heart diseases and cancers in the TRNC.

Most of the money for the purchase of this machine came from Turkey.
