State workers union on strike today

KAMU-IS union called on its members to come out on strike today in protest against the government’s proposal to remove severance benefits.

Some 300 answered the call and went on strike around 10.30 this morning. They gathered around the union headquarters, chanting slogans. A number of other unions were also there for support.

There was a march with protesters calling for the Prime Minister’s resignation.
