The Stelios bi-communal business awards were held yesterday. Six bi-communal pairs of entrepreneurs were awarded 10,000 euros each by Easyjet founder Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou, ‘Parikiaki’ reports.
The ceremony, which was also attended by Greek Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades, saw the cheques being presented by Sir Stelios from his philanthropic foundation which intends to help entrepreneurs from both communities and to develop bi-communal relations.
Sir Stelios said
“This is the sixth year we have run this competition and I never cease to be amazed by the determination of our entrepreneurs to use business as a medium to break down the barriers that separate our two communities. Long may this continue.”
