Preparations to introduce a new bill to the council of ministers for the regulation of citizenship and giving out white cards are being made, Minister for the Interior Aysegul Batbars has said.
Baybars told BRT that the bill would be submitted to the ministerial council by the end of the month. She explained that with this bill, stricter controls on how TRNC citizenship will be granted will be introduced. However, at the same time, they will provide conveniences to those who wish to invest in the TRNC.
Supporting the view that the increase in the number of the citizens in one country and the “granting of citizenship to people with different cultures” could change a country’s faith, demographic structure, identity and culture, Baybars said that this was the main reason for implementing stricter conditions in the citizenship law.
