The Office of the Deputy Prime Minister, along with the Ministry of Tourism, Culture, Youth, and Environment, is once again organising beach cleaning initiatives with a team of young volunteers, Kibris Postasi reports. This annual effort aims to maintain the cleanliness of the beaches and promote environmental awareness.
During the summer, cleaning activities are conducted on the beaches of Famagusta, Iskele, Yeniboğaziçi, and Tatlısu. Five groups operate in four regions, performing clean-ups twice daily, in the morning and evening.
These efforts focus on particularly crowded beach areas. The Famagusta team works between Palm Beach and Devran Beach, as well as Glapsides Beach. The Yeniboğaziçi team covers the Salamis Hotel area and Yeniboğaziçi Public Beach, while the Iskele and Tatlısu teams are active in public beach areas.
Despite the availability of trash bins, litter is often carelessly discarded, with more waste being collected during evening clean-ups.
The initiative aims to set an example and highlight the shared responsibility of all citizens in maintaining a clean environment.
