Talat denies call from Turkey

Former TRNC president, Mehmet Ali Talat appeared on a television news show last night answering questions on rumours that he had been called by Turkish Prime Minister Erdogan to get involved in the recent political chaos within the TRNC.

Talat said that these rumours are completely unfounded and that he has not been called by Mr Erdogan.

Talat said that these stories had been started by the current president, Dervis Eroglu, with the aim of getting him involved in the mess that the country is in.

Mr Talat feels that a lot of the blame for the current situation is down to Mr Eroglu who took sides on internal disputes within the ruling UBP party
