Talks should start soon: says Ban Ki-moon

The Cyprus problem was among the issues UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon discussed on Thursday in Davos, Switzerland, with the Foreign Minister of Turkey Ahmet Davutoglu, on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum.

According to a UN Secretary General spokesperson, “the Secretary-General reiterated his expectation that full-fledged negotiations to find a comprehensive settlement in Cyprus would resume at the earliest possible opportunity.

Ban and Davituglou also exchanged views on the crisis in Syria and prospects for a political settlement. The Secretary-General once again expressed his appreciation for Turkey’s generous hosting of Syrian refugees since the start of the crisis, according to his spokesperson.
